Lewis Capaldi has confirmed that his huge song 'Someone You Loved' isn't actually written about an ex girlfriend. In an interview with an Australian music channel, Lewis confirmed that the song is actually about his grandmother, not a former flame. Lewis said, "The song is not about a lady who I was in a romantic relationship. Attempting to keep the conversation on the lighter note, Lewis continued, "She died a few years ago. Your classic death, not coming back that sort of thing. When Love Island contestant Paige revealed that she'd been in a relationship with Lewis, many believed the song could have been about her.

The Scots singer, 22, unveiled the new music video as it was premiered on YouTube for the first time tonight. The hit song already featured a tearjerker of a video starring relative and Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi. It sees Lewis star in the video himself as he plays a heartbroken man in the immediate aftermath of a break-up with his girlfriend — while pals try to stop him from chasing after her. The original video featured Peter Capaldi playing the role of a grieving husband who loses his wife to illness. In the final moments of the video, Peter listens to beating heart of his wife in the body of another after donating her organs. The Live Life Give Life campaign, which is featured at the end of the video, allows recipients of donor organs to say thank you despite not being able to thank their donors in person.
It was released as a download on 8 November through Vertigo Records and Universal Music as the third single from his second extended play, Breach , and was later included on his debut album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent It was serviced to radio stations on 16 April as the first US single.
